Solar powered devices can be a great thing to have in an emergency situation. Be it a natural disaster or man made scenario, having generators, power banks for mobile phones , as well as flashlights and other devices that are solar powered can be a game changer. Being without power can not only be a big inconvenience, it can limit or neutralize you ability to communicate. Be it with family and relatives, or being able to get help and assistance for whatever you may be facing. Light and being able to power certain appliances in the home can be a benefit should the worst happens and there is a power outage or a blackout of some sort.

The technology for solar powered generators and other accessories is nothing new at this point. If you shop around, you can find very powerful generators that are rather lightweight, portable and easy to use. As long as you can manage to get the solar panels in a good position for charging, you will be set. You may have a limited amount of power or a limited time frame, but some power is better than no power. If you use you power sparingly too, that will make it last between recharges of your panels during daylight hours.

When it comes to something like solar powered generator, you have to be mindful of your situation. Depending on what's going on that has caused you to be without power, you might want to be cautious of being the only house in the neighborhood beaming with lights, power and activity in the middle of the night when no one else around you has power. Based on the scenario, that might not be good and bring unwanted attention to your home and family. In a scenario where people around you may not have power and be agitated and have struggles of dealing with no electricity, people will be quick to wonder how or where you are getting electricity or power from. This could make you a target of already angry individual to definitively a target of thieves and those whom were not prepared. So based on your situation, you may want to be discreet in your use of solar powered generators and such when they are needed, specifically at night (using lights etc.). Also, you may want to not be too over in charging your solar panels for use with your generators and appliances, no need to make yourself a target for anyone or become the victim of thieves or vandals.

Improvise, survive and thrive.

Walk in peace, but be prepared for battle !
