WSU Training Modules
The following are the skill sets and systems of which we address in our ongoing training and development into the warrior sciences for modern self defense and survival. We look at some of the history behind our skill sets as well as the methodology we use. We are constantly evolving what we do. We do not believe in a "one size fits all" approach. As practitioners of warrior science, we understand that as time and methods change, so too, must the way we train, skills we develop, and how we approach things. Over the course of time this may result in the dropping of old skills with the addition of new ones, or modification of what we do. That's why we term what we do "modern" though our warrior tradtitons are our platform.
Philosophically and conceptually we have our history, roots and foundation in the ancient Egyptian (Kemetic) and African warrior sciences. From that solid base, we add, delete, modify or expand what we do so that we are efficient, yet not bound by old ways, knowledge or outdated concepts for modern times.
We do not try to be everything to everyone, but we do believe in being holistic in our approach. The warrior lineage we descend from, and their approach to warrior science. Each skill set is merely a part of one whole of a well rounded "skill wheel". Without one skill, you cannot have another, and where one skill set ends, the next begins.
We see warriorism as a lifelong pursuit you cannot truly "master" and that we aim to be well rounded, while specializing in the skills and knowledge we are naturally adept at. Through this, we master specific skills, but more importantly master ourselves.
Way Of The Ultimate Warrior

History
If you look into the wide array of African tribes and warrior groups, you will see evidenced fighting methods consisting of many types of striking methods as well as grappling systems. In ancient Egypt, when the Greeks encountered the fighting and grappling methods on the walls of the tombs of Governors Baquet 3rd, Khety, and Amenemhat, they took that knowledge back with them. That influenced not only their fighting methods with systems like Pankration, but their methods influenced those near them and that they came in contact with. This system technically has strong roots in the gladiatorial style fighting sciences and related ones like Pankration and other Greek / Roman systems. The "Way of the Ultimate Warrior" is a modern system with a history that stretches back from the times of the Roman Empire to the early Americas. In Rome there were more Africans apart of the populace than told or realized. Not all slaves or servants as one would assume, and history it’s self accounts for some being scholars, three became Popes, there were multiple African Generals, and there were ten that became Emperors. Septimius Severus is one whom has been recounted as being “dark skinned” with his grandfather actually being a Knight in Rome. The infamous Hannibal Barca whom conquered Rome is another.
African soldiers of Rome distinguished themselves under the reign of Emperor Diocletian. There are references and proofs of Africans being involved in Roman competitions in everything from Boxing to Pancratium and Gladiatorial fighting. To impress the Armenian King Tiridates, the Emperor Nero commissioned Patrobius to host Gladiatorial games. These games consisted all of African competitors in Puteoli 66 A.D ( book; Gladiators and Caesars by Kohne and Ewigleben). Gladiators could either have been slaves bought for the purpose of training and being fought as Gladiators or criminals and debtors whom usually were forced to fight as execution, given no weapons and tossed in to the fray. Lastly, were regular, free men whom subjugated themselves to the Gladiator lifestyle in order to earn riches, fame, and glory…..the aim of all gladiators. For those whom were slaves, if they survived for three years of arena fighting, they were usually given their freedom. For many captive or in bondage, it was a lucrative way to earn freedom and become rich in the process. A Gladiator was met with the fanfare that a top basketball or football player of modern day is. Their faces even adorned / endorsed products. Most people think Gladiators were trained brutally, but scientific evidence shows that they were actually trained very well, like athletes, and given great medical care. Gladiatorial competition was so enthralling and glorifying that even some Emperors would enter the arena to compete and show their abilities as warriors.

Concepts
From ancient to modern counterparts and Diasporan aspects, we go into the modern history; it traces the African American to the early Americas. During these early days these Africans bought their martial histories and traditions with them, and they lived in on different ways, many of them underground. In the early America’s, no holds barred plantation fighting took place. This being where captive / enslaved Africans fought freestyle fights (utilizing boxing, kicking, grappling etc) for sport and many times for their freedom. Plantation owners and others would gamble on these fights and many times, an enslaved fighter could “earn” their freedom and escape forced servitude as a prize. Some of these Africans in bondage escaped to Native American tribes and the blood unification of these two warrior lineages that fought side by side. The lineage continued with many of these same athletes that ran from captive bonds became prizefighters. The first African American heavyweight boxing champion Jack Johnson, when he became champion, opened the doors for these fighters whom at one point were restricted from fighting whites, or in parts of the country period. This history is very deep and expansive and this is but a very small overview.
In other skills bought to the early Americas by European settlers, there are multiple types of Western wrestling systems descending from the original Nubian wrestling of Africa, with Greco-Roman and Catch wrestling being two of the styles with readily apparent (and admitted) Kemetic roots. Catch wrestling is a highly effective form of grappling. In the Early Americas, traveling carnivals had these wrestlers, called hookers ( a hook being any crippling submission) whom were the quintessential submission grapple of the day. The hookers were highly skilled and conditioned and would take on all comers for prize money. They would fight by agreed upon rules, be it winning by pin, by throw, submission or whatever. Over time these wrestlers and their shows became what is know today as professional wrestling. When the “hookers” took on all comers, they developed ways to neutralize them quickly because the challengers tended to fight very dirty, and because if a challenger won, they may be offered the job of the wrestler they beat. Most do not know that pro wrestling originated from the brutal submission grappling form of catch Wrestling and carnival wrestling. This was the MMA of the early Americas, and where modern Japanese Shootfighting would come from, as well as the Japanese Pancrase circuit, when Catch Wrestlers would travel to Japan and train with martial artists and the styles merged into a modern sport. Greco - Roman wrestlers as well as Catch Wrestlers who have knoeldge of history, readily trace the history of their techniques to those on the tomb walls in ancient Egypt (the tombs of Govenors Baquet 3rd, Khety and Amenemhat). The way of the Ultimate Warrior is patterend after Pankration as we view it as a method of Shootfighting thats designed for street self defense over sport due to its concepts and methodology.
Sumkido Ku-Ta
(Defender of the Pharoah)

Sumkido Ku-Ta Warrior Weapons

History
The Sumkido system is a modern system of warrior science. It is a culmination of skills in the likeness of the African and Afro-Egyptian battlefield arts utilized by the Nubian Pharaohs of ancient Egypt, in particular, the special skill set of Ku-Ta, used by the bodyguards of the Pharoah (Medjay). This basis is coming from the evidenced skills on the tomb walls of these Pharaohs showing the use of wrestling, hand to hand fighting skills, and a multitude of weapons skills. Within this lineage is the specialized fighting system used by the bodyguards of the Pharaohs called Ku Ta or Hikuta which is said to have been where the martial art of Kuntao originated.
Concepts
Sumkido is a strict system of street self defense and self preservation / survival. Its tactics can be used to protect oneself to also the protection of others directly, which is not something all war arts were designed for. The skills are very use -of-force based and the practitioner can escalate or de escalates as necessary, flowing from one technique type to another. The Sumkidoist also learns many facets of situational awareness and how they apply to self defense, and how to recognize and preemptively deal with a threat. It also focuses on situational training and how to deal with things like a robbery, kidnapping attempt, multiple assailants, adrenal stress training and related things. Later in training students also learn the fundamentals of martial arts style weapons. This builds coordination and many other attributes as well as teaches the practitioner the concepts needed to make anything in their environment a weapon, should they need one and be empty handed.
Taewresdo Combative Concepts
Kickboxing / Shootboxing

History
The Taewresdo system is a modern system of fighting science. it is the counterpart to our Pan Kau Rau Shen Combative science system of combat grappling. Taewresdo It is composed of techniques that mirror African and Diasporan boxing styles and striking systems that utilize hand, foot, knee, and elbow techniques as well as other hand to hand skills sets. In its application, it is very similar to the stand up components of Pankration (Ano Pankration), Japanese Shootboxing, or Sanda / San Shou (Chinese rules kickboxing).
Concepts
Taewresdo is a system designed for street defense, based around striking and upright or standing fighting. The goal is to use striking skills to stop an aggressor, and the clinch is used to rein the heaviest blows in close to an opponent which is highly effective, and where the opponent is weakest. If that does not stop the threat, standing submission and impact based takedowns or throws are the next options from the clinch / tieup as well as being able to counter grappling from there too. The clinch is also used on an opponent whom charges, gets too close, or is a more proficient striker. Being a striking system, the practitioner desires to remain on the feet but also have the ability to counter grappling attacks with grappling defense in ground fighting.
Sumkido Survival Concepts

The ancient warriors of Africa and Kemet that we emulate at Warrior Sciences University were survivalists'. They knew and understood nature and their environment and were spiritually in tune with it. They understood the plants and animals as well as the forces within nature, hence that allowed then to be able to "improvise, survive and thrive" anywhere they went in any climate or conditions. In part with knowledge of street self defense concepts and fighting science, and at more progressive levels, we delve into the concepts and knowledge of urban and wilderness survival skills.
While we may not be able to actively practice all of these skills, we can strive to learn as much as possible about them and how thy relate to one another, as well as show some skills transfer over in their adaptability. The subject matter of both urban and wilderness survival skills can be vast, from escape and evasion skills to things like making fire, building a shelter, hunting and preparing game and properly procuring resources in an emergency situation.

Even the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) implore all citizens to be prepared and supplied in case of a number of emergencies, have contingency plans, and general first aid skills and such. Bridging aspects of this knowledge with applicable and sensible skills, we take a look at solid fundamentals and build outward from that. This gives the student the foundation for even deeper study and application to suit their specific needs.
Pan Kau Rau Shen Combat Grappling
(Combative Science)

History
The combative Science System is a modern system of warrior science. Also referred to as Pan Kau Rau Shen (fighting with the power of Ra, the Egyptian Sun God) that name stems from the original name of the ancient Kushite martial art that Greek Pankration has its roots in. This system is a form of combat submission grappling based off of the skills of Nubian wrestling, as depicted on the walls of the Nubian Pharaohs’ temples in ancient Egypt. It is modified with modern combat concepts that suit the particular skill set of grappling geared for the battlefield / street where submission is not the aim, but neutralization of the threat or finishing. This is achieved by whatever means the level or use of force dictates.
Concepts
The concept of this system is to use striking to bridge the gap and close the distance on an adversary and in anticipation of the striking not neutralizing the opponent, the goal is to subdue the aggressor using grappling. This system is based on the concept of the warrior whom has become weaponless on the battlefield and has nothing left but their empty hands, hence they have to completely neutralize their weapon bearing opponents. In modern concepts, the combative science of street or urban situational awareness is taught, as well as modern verbal de escalation skills. We also use philosophic warrior principles to instill mindset as well as in parcel with situational de escalation. The system was designed technique wise, to deal with an armored or geared up individual whom body is reinforced (plate carrier, body armor etc) and used while wearing such gear, similar to the old aspects of armored warriors on the battlefield. Strikes can have effect but not finishing results, so there is heavy emphasis on grappling as well as various defenses from various types of weapons attack.
Hardy Combat Fitness System (HCFS)

Combat Fitness
Our approach to fitness, strength and conditioning comes from research of warrior tribes like the Zulu, Medjay and others into how intensely they physically trained for combat, as well as some of the amazing methods they used during their time period. We also researched the incredible level of physical performance these warriors had based on how they trained. The hard training not only forged their bodies, but also their minds, enabling them to tap into limitless physical reserves and push their bodies to above average levels.
Combat fitness is exercise and conditioning not only for general health and wellness, but towards making the body conditioned for the rigors of combat or fighting. not only is conditioning the body important, but having the added strength and attributes needed to endure a harsh or extreme confrontation. Real life altercations or situations are usually violent and explosive and last seconds , not minutes. But we train in combat fitness to be able to deal with that, or a long, drawn out scenario. Combat fitness is all about being “fighting fit”. In our concept, combat fitness serves other purposes. The supplemental physical conditioning not only improves health and wellness and increases attributes for fighting, but is apart of our mental conditioning. To submit yourself routinely to physical training that maybe uncomfortable or push you to (or past) you limits, you surpass mental and physical peaks. This makes you a peak performer, being able at any moment to be able to operate at the higher threshold of you capabilities. Next, this type of conditioning conditions us, preparing us for any scenario we may face in self defense or survival.
