Montw; Keeper and guardian of the Pharaoh
Montw is a guardian and keeper of the Pharaoh. Often called upon to accompany the Pharaoh in war, Montw was a fierce and skilled warrior who was loved by the Egyptian people and feared by his enemies. Fueled by his masculinity, vitality, and mental vigor; Montw was a warrior skilled in the Military Arts.
Pan Kau Rau Shen, an ancient Egyptian art form meaning “all powers” was used by the Pharaohs to sharpen their skills in battlefield tactics, hand to hand combat using weaponry and military fighting skills. Montw, in his personification of keeping the balance between good and evil, was legendary in defeating his biggest opponent Sinue. Montw’s war skills have been compared to those of military combatants.
In his protection of the Egyptian people, Montw gained the praise and respect of the Pharaohs. If Montw was more than a figment of a mythological imagery, he would embody traits of a strong work ethic, warrior-like persona, with a strong sense of personal development. From an African perspective, the acronym from Montw is:
M= Ma’at (Balance)
This is the mental ability to use thoughts, thinking, and feelings to get a result. When the mind is out of balance, it is “un” or chaos. Only order can help one to make wise decisions.
O= Onuris Aka- Anhur (Strength) or Courage
It takes strength for anything to exist. To maintain balance takes strength. This also refers to one who can make the right decision under pressure; this is also called exerted energy to fight negativity. While courage can be fearlessness, it is more so acting in the face of any danger or fear you may feel without faltering.
N= Neith (Create)
One who can create solutions is a problem solver. In Egypt, she was called the “Weaver" of life, weapons, and the one who skilled in war. When one is able to catch the problem in the “Net” of Neith, like a spider, you are a problem solver. This is the attribute of intellect. To have tactics, strategy, cunning and so forth. Use of the mind as a tool / weapon.
T= Tehuti Aka Jhyhuti (Wisdom)
The ability to solve difficult problem takes common sense, special knowledge, insight, foresight, and understanding. Knowing what to do and when to do it is a prudent person. This also calls into play listening to your instincts as some would call them, or as we see it, listening to the ancestors speaking to us from the spiritual plane. They do this to giving guidance to those who are spiritually developed, trained and in tune. To fight any war takes the Wisdom of strategy and tactics. Without it, one will lose against his enemy.
W= Wadjet (Skills of Protection)
When one has the ' Eye ', he or she is focused with the ability to ' rear up' the senses to perceive danger like a cobra. Using the Mind, body, and senses one can become effective in overcoming the enemy without making mistakes in judgment (this is the use of force levels) of combat.
Montw is an example of guardianship from an African perspective. One that protects what is right, true, and just. When balance is interrupted, Montw will appear to fight, neutralize the enemy, and restore order.
